PETALING JAYA: Speculation is rife concerning the successor for the Kajang state seat, following the resignation of its PKR assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh.

It is said if Pakatan Rakyat wins the by-election, slated to be held within 60 days from Monday, the winner will become the next Selangor Mentri Besar.

Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who has been MB since 2008, is now reportedly under pressure from his colleagues in PKR due to his various unpopular decisions.

According to party insiders, Khalid will agree to the takeover as long as it is not his rival, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

The resignation of Lee is believed to be related to speculation that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is being lined up to replace Khalid, but Anwar needs to be part of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly in order take over the top job.

Other names from Pakatan have however surfaced as the next possible MB, apart from Anwar.
This includes PAS' Iskandar Abdul Samad and Azmin, who are already legislators in the state.
